Málaga is currently the most popular destination in Spain to learn Spanish. It's the capital of the Costa del Sol and it's located on the southern Mediterranean Spanish coastline not far from Torremolinos and Marbella. It also benefits from the famously moderate "Mediterranean climate" and all the cultural heritage and influences (history, architecture, music, dance, gastronomy, etc.) of the many different peoples of the region.
Unlike other more commercial tourist destinations along the Costa del Sol; Malaga is a normal Spanish city where you will see that the Malagueños, local people, go about their daily business. This city offers plenty of entertainment, and if you have the opportunity try one of the local traditional dishes like Salmorejo o Pescaito frito.
The historical influences from the past conquest of Phoenicians, Romans have left their trace. The moors occupation of over 800 years as also left its print. They brought with them their music (the roots of flamenco), their palaces and white-washed villages, fountains and flowing water, books, libraries and universities - all this at a time when the rest of Europe was in the savage depths of the Middle Ages. It is these influences from another continent and culture that create what many visitors describe as the "passion and mystery" of Andalucía and which make it such an interesting and exciting place for your language studies.
In addition, Málaga is ideally placed for seeing the other great historic cities of Andalucía (Granada, Sevilla, Córdoba and Ronda).
